Cyclone Nilofar : ウィキペディア英語版
Cyclone Nilofar

Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm Nilofar was the strongest tropical cyclone of 2014 within the North Indian Ocean and the strongest storm to form over the Arabian Sea since Phet in 2010. Nilofar originated from a low pressure area in the Arabian Sea that intensified into a depression on October 25. It slowly consolidated and reached cyclonic storm strength the following day. The system rapidly intensified in the following days, reaching a peak intensity of on October 28. Over time the storm tracked northeastwards towards an area of high vertical wind shear, causing the storm to rapidly weaken. The name ''Nilofar'', referring to the water lily, was suggested by Pakistan.
==Meteorological history==

In late October, a low pressure area formed over the Arabian Sea. It slowly consolidated as it moved north, and a Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert (TCFA) was issued by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) on October 24.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.webcitation.org/6TadiFnqm )〕 The following day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) classified the storm as a depression, designating it ''ARB 02'', and the JTWC estimated tropical storm winds at the storm's center, starting advisories for the system, designating it ''04A''.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.webcitation.org/6TaoptECy )〕 On October 26, the system remained stationary and intensified further into a deep depression.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.webcitation.org/6TbeIC73B )〕 Within a few hours, the IMD reported the storm had intensified into a cyclonic storm, and named it ''Nilofar'', making it the third named tropical storm of the season.
On October 27, the IMD upgraded the storm into a severe cyclonic storm and further to a very severe cyclonic storm, and the JTWC reported hurricane-force winds at Nilofar's center as it developed an eye feature meanwhile.〔(【引用サイトリンク】publisher=India Meteorological Department )〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.webcitation.org/6TdvsK6rc )〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.webcitation.org/6Tdw5k9YU )〕 The following day, the storm's rapid deepening phase began, as the eye became more well defined and the convection improved around the center.The 24-hour pressure drop was recorded to be , reaching a peak of with wind speeds exceeding , making Nilofar the fourth most intense tropical cyclone on record in the Arabian Sea as well as one of the most intense in the basin.
Over the following days, the storm recurved northeastwards and experienced high vertical wind shear, causing the storm to weaken rapidly into a minimal cyclonic storm on October 30. The storm convection further disorganized, causing the low-level circulation center (LLCC) of the storm to expose, indicating a weakened system. The JTWC posted their final advisory for the system by the night and the IMD further downgraded Nilofar into a depression. By October 31, Nilofar was reported to have weakened into a well-marked low pressure area, and the IMD posted their final bulletin for the system.
